Koco Crew assembles convenience kits and creates meaningful employment for developmentally disabled people. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit our website or get in touch with us.
The short version: we collect very little, we use it to answer you and to reach you if a product is ever recalled, and we do not sell it to anyone.
When you contact us. If you fill out a form on this site or send us an email, we receive whatever you choose to tell us. That usually means your name, your email address, and the message itself, and sometimes a phone number or the name of the organization you work for.
When you join our mailing list. If you sign up for updates, we keep your email address and your name.
When you buy from us. If you order kits, we keep a record of what you ordered, when, and how to reach you. We explain below why we hold onto that, because it is the one piece of this policy that is genuinely important.
Automatically, when you visit. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information: the pages you looked at, roughly where in the world you connected from, what browser and device you used, and when. This is collected in aggregate and we do not use it to work out who you are.
We do not ask for anything about your health, your disability status, or your family. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and do not reach us. If a form ever asks you for something, it is because we need it to answer your question or fill your order, and you can always leave it out and ask us by email instead.
Convenience kits are assembled from components made by other companies. If one of those companies ever issues a recall on something that went into a kit you bought, we need to be able to tell you.
That only works if we know who bought what. So when you order from us, we keep your contact information linked to your order, and we keep it for [RETENTION PERIOD REQUIRED BY SUPPLIER]. Our suppliers require this of us, and we would do it regardless, because we are interested in helping you stay safe and healthy.
We use those records for that purpose. We do not use your order history to build a profile of you, target advertising at you, or work out what else to sell you.
We use what you send us to reply to you, to prepare a quote or a kit order, to keep track of a conversation across more than one email, to reach you in the event of a recall, and to send you updates if you asked for them.
We do not sell your information. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to anyone who wants to advertise to you.
Our website uses cookies, which are small files your browser stores so a site can remember things between pages. Ours keep the site working properly and help us understand which pages people actually read. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may work less smoothly if you do, but you are welcome to.
We use a small number of outside services and contractors to run the website and our email, and those companies necessarily handle some of this information in order to do their jobs. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We will also share information if the law genuinely requires it. If that ever happens, we will tell you unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
We keep messages and inquiries for as long as the conversation is useful, and generally no longer than three years after our last contact. Mailing list information stays until you unsubscribe, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also just ask us and we will take care of it.
Purchase records are the exception. Those we keep for [RETENTION PERIOD REQUIRED BY SUPPLIER], for the recall reason explained above.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time. You do not need a reason and you will not need to explain yourself. Click unsubscribe or write to us at the address below and we will do it.
One exception: If you have bought from us, we cannot delete the record connecting you to your order until the recall period is up, because deleting it would mean we could not warn you if something you own turns out to be unsafe. We can take you off every mailing list, stop contacting you about anything else, and delete everything that is not part of that record. And once the period ends, the rest goes too. If that matters to you, write to us and we will tell you exactly what we still hold and why.
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we keep the amount we hold small on purpose, which is the most effective protection there is. All our customer data lives in our CRM, which is protected by two factor authentication and only accessed by a limited number of staff and the consulting company that manages it.
